Privacy policy
Last updated
This policy covers pressengage.com and the PressEngage service, both run by Rocksteady Marketing LLC ("we"), an Idaho limited liability company. Questions or requests: hello@pressengage.com.
Pilot applications
If you apply, we collect what you type into the form: name, email, company, website, LinkedIn profile and the topics you could speak about. We use it to review your application and to contact you about the pilot. We don't sell it or add you to a newsletter. Applications are stored in a database run for us by Supabase.
If you become a pilot client
We also collect: a recording and transcript of your intake call, made only with your consent (given in writing and again at the start of the call); voice notes and typed answers you send us, and their word-for-word transcripts; your fact sheet (the facts, opinions, bio, title, links and headshot you approve for your pitches); links to and copies of articles that quote you, kept as proof for billing; and billing details. Stripe stores your card, and we see only the card brand, last four digits and expiry date. We use this to brief you on reporter requests, transcribe your own words, confirm published quotes, bill you and send receipts. We never use AI to write or rewrite your pitch. We may use AI tools to sort requests and draft the briefs and questions we show you.
Reporter requests (HARO emails)
If you forward your own HARO emails to the private address we give you, we use each request only to brief you. We don't share it with other clients, publish it or build media lists, and we don't keep reporters' details beyond the anonymous reply address in the request. We delete forwarded emails 14 days after the last deadline in them. We don't accept forwarded Source of Sources, Featured or Qwoted emails, and we never log in to your accounts on those platforms.
Analytics and cookies
We use two analytics tools to see how the site is used, such as which pages people read and which sites send visitors here.
Vercel Web Analytics runs on every visit and does not use cookies. For each page view it records the page address (without most of the text after a “?” in the address), the site that sent you, your browser, operating system and type of device, and your approximate location (country, region and city, worked out from your connection). Vercel tells visits apart with an anonymous code made from the request and discards it after 24 hours, so it can't follow you from one day to the next or across other websites. We only see totals.
Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, runs only if you click Accept on the cookie banner. It then sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by a code, which can last up to two years and let it recognize a returning browser. It records the pages you view, how you arrived, how long you stayed, your browser, device and screen size, and your approximate location. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. Our setup keeps Google signals and advertising features switched off, and we don't use Google Analytics for advertising. Google handles this data for us under its terms. You can read Google's privacy policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
If you click Reject, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Google Analytics does not load and sets no cookies. The site remembers your choice in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, so it doesn't ask on every page. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie choices" link in the footer. If you switch to Reject, the site deletes its Google Analytics cookies.
Who processes it
Vercel (hosting and cookieless Web Analytics), Google (Google Analytics 4, only with your consent) and Supabase (database storage for applications and client data). For pilot clients we also use Stripe (payments; we never see full card numbers), a speech-to-text service (transcribing recordings and voice notes), an AI model provider (sorting requests and drafting the briefs we show you), an email service provider (sending email and receiving forwarded requests) and an online scheduling tool (booking the intake call). We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect rights and safety. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If you email hello@pressengage.com, we keep your message and address to reply to you. We don't send newsletters or marketing email.
How long we keep it
Applications: while the pilot runs, and for up to 12 months if you don't become a client, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Recordings, transcripts, voice notes and your fact sheet: while you're a client, and deleted within 30 days after you leave, or sooner if you ask; we keep a short record that you consented to recording. Forwarded request emails: 14 days after the last deadline in them. Proof of published quotes and billing records: as long as tax and accounting rules require. Google Analytics event data: 14 months.
Your choices
To see, correct or delete your information, email hello@pressengage.com with "Privacy" in the subject line. We'll answer within 45 days. You can withdraw recording consent at any time, and we'll delete past recordings on request. You can stop forwarding emails to us at any time from your own mailbox.
Security
We encrypt data in transit, keep each client's data separate, require multi-factor sign-in for admin accounts and limit access to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Children
This service is for business owners. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page, and we'll email clients about material changes.
